Declutter Your Kitchen Using Self Storage

Organized and Decluttered Kitchen

The kitchen is one of the most popular rooms in any home. Unfortunately, because this is one of the rooms where friends and family congregate regularly, it can be very easy to become disorganized much quicker than any other room.

Having a disorganized kitchen is not only an eyesore, it can also make cooking and baking stressful with all of the clutter.

Organizing your kitchen is a large task. Instead of becoming overwhelmed by looking at it as a whole, organize your kitchen one step at a time.

Organize Your Pantry

The first step in organizing your pantry is to throw out anything that is expired. It’s surprising how much can be hiding in there.

When it comes to organizing a pantry, baskets and clear canisters are ideal. Label each basket and group all of your items together; such as, soup cans, cereal, snacks, etc. Always put the newest items at the back or bottom of the basket to help prevent food from expiring.

Use clear canisters to store all of your spices and baking ingredients. They take up less room and make finding what you are looking for, much easier. They also have a tighter seal when closed to help keep your food fresher, longer.

Declutter Your Cabinets

It’s amazing how quickly the space in our cupboards can fill up. When it comes to your kitchen, you need to look more at practicality and ease of use.

You also need to come to terms with the realization that you don’t need multiples of the same items. There is no need to have 2 blenders, 10 cookie sheets or multiple crockpots. Group all of these items and choose the best or your most favorite.

Get rid of anything that is broken or chipped as they could be dangerous.

When you have gone through all of your cabinets and decided what to keep, it is now time to put them back in a way that makes sense. Group all like items together, such as coffee mugs, and try to put them in the area of the kitchen where they are used. For example, pots and pans by the stove, coffee cups by the coffee machine, etc.

Also, make sure to put your more frequently used items in the easiest places to access. Don’t put something you use regularly in the back of a bottom cupboard.

Organize Drawers

To keep your drawers organized, pick up some drawer organizers to keep everything in its place. These are very inexpensive and allow you to separate your items into categories.

Go through the drawer that houses your kitchen towels and oven mitts and get rid of anything that is stained or ratty. Remember, you also don’t need 5 different pairs of oven mitts.

Under The Sink

Under your kitchen sink is probably one of the easiest places to become disorganized. Keeping all of those cleaning supplies organized and in order can become a challenge. Invest in some baskets, pullout drawers or shelves to help keep everything from becoming a cluttered mess.

Fridge/Freezer

The fridge and freezer are often overlooked when it comes to organizing your kitchen. It’s very important to regularly go through your fridge to reorganize. Items get pushed to the back and out of sight very easily. By regularly going through your fridge and freezer, it will help you find what you are looking for faster, prevent items from being forgotten about and going bad, and you’re also less likely to buy duplicates of items you already have.
